PROGRAMME HISTORY

PETRONAS All About Youth Programme (PAAYP) is a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) aimed at empowering youths in Malaysia by providing them with a platform to showcase their ability and creativity. The key objectives of this programme includes:
  • Empower youths to become well-rounded and possess universal human values to facilitate the creation of social and economic well-being by reaching out and making a difference to the lives of the community
  • Create PETRONAS brand advocates and ambassadors among the youths through their experiential interactions in the programme with our staff volunteers who will be mentoring them in project management and execution, as well as their engagement with the community
  • Support the National Education Philosophy’s vision to enhance the youth’s individual character that goes beyond classroom boundaries (i.e. inculcate higher order of thinking skills, leadership and project management skills)
The pilot programme commenced last September 2014 with 1,200 Form 4 students from 60 schools in Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu competing against each other to conduct impactful CSI projects in their community. Each participating school is given a start-up fund of RM2,000 to execute their projects and paired with a “buddy” from PETRONAS.
Their projects are judged on creativity, clarity of presentation, impact, originality and project sustainability before it is to be shortlisted for the final competition in Kuala Lumpur. The first PAAYP grand prize winner went to SMK Tengku Intan Zaharah from Dungun, Terengganu, in November 2014. The school received RM100,000 while participating students received RM1,000 deposited into their individual bank accounts listed under the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN).
